Heidi L. Maibom është profesoreshë filozofie me emërime të dyfishta në Universitetin e Cincinnati-t dhe në Universitetin e Vendit Bask . Hulumtimi i saj përqendrohet në empatinë, përgjegjësinë, imagjinatën, psikopatinë, emocionet morale dhe teorinë e mendjes .

Maibom mori doktoraturën në Filozofi nga University College London në vitin 2000. Ajo ka mbajtur pozicione të ndryshme kërkimore përfshirë: Bashkëpunëtoren Kërkimore Carlsberg në Kolegjin Lucy Cavendish, Universiteti i Kembrixhit (1993–1994); Bashkëpunëtore Postdoktorale në Programin Filozofi-Neuroshkencë-Psikologji në Universitetin e Uashingtonit në St. Louis (2001–2003); Bashkëpunëtore Vizitore Laurence S. Rockefeller në Qendrën Universitare për Vlerat Njerëzore, Universiteti i Princetonit (2007–2008); dhe Bashkëpunëtore e Kërkimit të Qendrës TAFT në Universitetin e Cincinnati-t (2017–2018). Para emërimit të saj në Universitetin e Cincinnati-t, Maibom shërbeu si asistente dhe profesoreshë e asociuar e filozofisë dhe shkencës kognitive në Universitetin Carleton nga viti 2003 deri në vitin 2013.

Ajo është autore e librit The Space Between. How Empathy Really Works[1] dhe Empathy.[2]

Gjithashtu, ajo është redaktore e Empathy and Morality (2014) [3] dhe e The Routledge Handbook of Philosophy of Empathy (2017), [4] si dhe bashkëredaktore e "Neurofeminism" (2012) me R. Bluhm dhe AJ Jacobsen, [5] dhe Empathy and Morality (2014). [6]
