IBM 701, i njohur si Defense Calculator (Llogaritësi i Mbrojtjes), u njoftua për publikun më 29 prill, 1952, dhe ishte kompjuteri i parë shkencor i IBM [1] Kompjuterët e saj të biznesit simotër janë IBM 702 dhe IBM 650.
