Omar Sharif (arab: عمر الشريف) është i lindur më 10 prill 1932 në Aleksandri, Egjipt. Është i lindur me emrin Mihael Demitri Shalhub, ndërsa njihet me emrin Omar El-Sherif. Është me prejardhje libaneze, babanë e kishte nga Libani, ndërsa e ëma e tij është ebreje. Pseudonimin Omar e mori nga gjenerali amerikan Omaru Bradli, ndërsa Sharif në arabisht do të thot fis.
