Shkencat formale

Shkencat formale janë një grup shkencash të cilat merren me studimin dhe hulumtimin e sistemeve formale, siç janë logjika, matematika, statistika, shkenca teorike kompjuterike, inteligjenca artificiale, teoria e informacionit, teoria e lojërave, teoria e sistemeve, teoria e vendimeve dhe gjuhësia teorike . ^[1] Ndërsa shkencat natyrore dhe shkencat shoqërore kërkojnë të karakterizojnë sistemet fizike dhe sistemet shoqërore, përkatësisht, duke përdorur metoda empirike, shkencat formale janë mjete gjuhësore të cilat merren me karakterizimin e strukturave abstrakte të përshkruara nga sistemet simbolike. Shkencat formale ndihmojnë shkencat natyrore dhe shoqërore duke siguruar informacione rreth strukturave të cilat këto të fundit i përdorin për të përshkruar botën si dhe përfundimet përkatëse për to. ^[2] ^[3]
