Inkluzioni ose gjithëpërfshirja, në arsim i referohet një modeli në të cilin nxënësit apo studentët me nevoja të veçanta e kalojnë pjesën më të madhe ose të gjithë kohën e tyre me nxënësit apo studentët me nevoja jo speciale (arsim të përgjithshëm). Ai u paraqit në kontekstin e arsimit special me një program arsimor të individualizuar ose planin 504, dhe bazohet në idenë se është më efektive për nxënësit (studentët) me nevoja të veçanta që të kenë përvoja të përziera, në mënyrë që ata të jenë më të suksesshëm në bashkëveprimet shoqërore që çojnë në suksese të mëtejme në jetë.

Inkluzioni (gjithëpërfshirja) e refuzon ndarjen e arsimit speciale të nxënësve me nevoja të veçanta (aftësi të kufizuara) nga nxënësit tjerë por siguron dhe sugjeron vazhdimin e arsimimit të nxënësve me aftësi të kufizuara së bashku me nxënësit pa aftësi të kufizuara. Shkollat me klasa inkluzive (gjithëpërfshirëse) nuk besojnë në klasa të ndara si dhe nuk e sugjerojnë fare një gjë të tillë. Fëmijët me nevoja të veçanta (aftësi të kufizuara) nuk e kanë botën e tyre të veçantë (të ndarë nga ne), kështu që ata duhet të mësojnë se si të veprojnë dhe të sillen me të gjithë nxënësitë dhe studentët.

Zbatimi i këtyre praktikave ndryshon varësisht nga vendi. Shkollat më shpesh përdorin modelin e përfshirjes për nxënës të përzgjedhur me nevoja të veçanta të buta deri në mesatare. [1] Shkollat plotësisht inkluzive (gjithëpërfshirëse), të cilat janë të rralla, nuk i ndajnë programet e tyre në "arsim i përgjithshëm" dhe "arsim special"; dhe në vend të kësaj, shkollat e tilla janë ristrukturuar në mënyrë që të gjithë nxënësit të mësojnë së bashku. Arsimi inkluziv (gjithëpërfshirës) ndryshon nga modeli i 'integruar' ose ' integrues ', i cili priret të merret kryesisht me aftësi të kufizuara dhe nevoja të veçanta arsimore, me nxënësit që ose ndryshojnë dhe bëhen 'të gatshëm për' ose nuk meritojnë fare strehim. Në të kundërt, inkluzioni ka të bëjë me të drejtën e fëmijës për të marrë pjesë (pjesëmarrje në arsim) si dhe detyrën e shkollës për ta pranuar fëmijën.

Në inkluzion theksi vendoset në pjesëmarrjen e plotë të studentëve me aftësi të kufizuara dhe respektimin e të drejtave të tyre sociale, civile dhe arsimore. Ndjenja e përfshirjes nuk duhet të jetë e kufizuar në paaftësi fizike dhe njohëse, por të përfshijë gamën e plotë të diversitetit njerëzor në lidhje me aftësinë, gjuhën, kulturën, gjininë, moshën dhe format e tjera të dallimeve njerëzore. [3] Richard Wilkinson dhe Kate Pickett kanë shkruar mes tjerash se, "Performanca e studentit dhe sjellja në detyrat edukative e arsimore mund të ndikohet thellësisht nga mënyra sesi ndihemi, jemi parë dhe gjykuar ne, nga të tjerët. Kur presim që të vlerësohemi si inferiorë, aftësitë tona duket se zvogëlohen ". [4]
