Nimfeumi

Nimfeumi (Nymphæum ose Nymphaion (greqishtja e lashtë: Νυμφαῖον, Νύμφαιον ose Νυμφαίη; latinisht: Nymphaeum) ishte një liman i lashtë në bregdetin e Mbretërisë Ilire, tre milje në veri të Lezhës (Lissus).

Historia

Duke iu falënderuar hulumtimeve shkencore historiko arkeologjike Nimfeumi është identifikuar me zonën e Shëngjinit të sotëm, Shqipëri . Ndoshta u shfaq që nga shekulli i 5-të para Krishtit, Nimfeumi ishte një nga kolonitë më të hershme greke në bregdetin shqiptar.

Nimfeumi është përmendur nga Plini Plaku (23 e.s. – 79), Lucani (39 pas Krishtit – 65 pas Krishtit), Tit Livi (59 para Krishtit – 17 pas Krishtit) dhe Jul Cezari (100 para Krishtit - 44 para Krishtit). Porti i Nimfeumit u përdor nga Marcus Antonius dhe flota e tij kur arritën në Ilirik gjatë Luftës Civile të Cezarit .
