Oksitanët

Oksitanët ( Ocitanisht: occitans) janë një grup etnik që flet gjuhë neo-latine me origjinë nga rajoni historik i Ocitanisë (Franca jugore, Spanja verilindore dhe Italia veriperëndimore dhe Monako ). ^[1] ^[2] ^[3] ^[4] Ata janë quajtur edhe Gaskonë, ^[5] Provençalë dhe Auvernjatë. ^[6]

Gjuha oksitane flitet ende në nivele të ndryshme nga 100,000 deri në 800,000 folës në Francën jugore dhe në Italinë veriore. Që nga viti 2006, gjuha oksitane njihet si një nga gjuhët zyrtare në Katalonjë, një rajon autonom i Spanjës.

Oksitanët janë të përqendruar jo vetëm në Ocitani, por edhe në qendrat e mëdha urbane në rajonet fqinje: Lion, Paris, Torino dhe Barcelonë . Ka edhe Oksitanë etnikë në Guardia Piemontese ( Kalabri ), si dhe në Argjentinë, Meksikë dhe Shtetet e Bashkuara .
