Një pandemi e vazhdueshme në të gjithë botën e sëmundjes COVID-19 (COVID-19), një sëmundje e re infektive e shkaktuar nga sindromi i rëndë akut i frymëmarrjes koronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), u konfirmua për herë të parë që ishte përhapur në Shtetet e Bashkuara në janar të vitit 2020. Rastet janë konfirmuar në të gjitha pesëdhjetë shtetet e ShBA-së, Rrethin e Kolumbisë dhe të gjitha territoret e banuara të ShBA-së, përveç Samoas Amerikane.[1] Deri më 28 mars 2020, ShBA ka rastet më të konfirmuara aktive në botë dhe renditet e gjashta në numrin e vdekjeve totale nga virusi.[2]

Rasti i parë i njohur i COVID-19 në ShBA u konfirmua më 20 janar 2020, te një burrë 35-vjeçar që ishte kthyer nga Wuhan, Kinë, pesë ditë më parë.[3] Dy ditë më vonë, administrata Trump shpalli një emergjencë të shëndetit publik dhe njoftoi kufizime për udhëtarët që vijnë nga Kina.[4] Më 26 shkurt, rasti i parë në ShBA te një person me "asnjë ekspozim të njohur ndaj virusit përmes udhëtimit ose kontakt të ngushtë me një individ të njohur të infektuar" u konfirmua nga Qendrat për Kontrollin dhe Parandalimin e Sëmundjeve (CDC) në veri të Kalifornisë.[5]
